Mount Peace Cemetery was founded in 1880 by German Immigrants who made it their policy to open the gates to ALL Akron residents. Not far from the main gate you will find the grave of Dr. Robert Smith (aka Dr. Bob), co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous. Mount Peace is the final stop of the annual Akron Founder’s Day weekend in June. The weekend brings visitors from all over the world and over 10,000 visitors to the cemetery.
